History of West End Watch Co

The story of how the first West End Watches came to the Middle-East is a remarkable story itself.

During the First World War, a formidable group of British and Indian soldiers was assembled with the aim of attacking Mesopotamia and fracturing the Germany-Turkey alliance. These troops procured significant quantities of the highly regarded West End Watches, known for their exceptional sturdiness in even the most demanding situations.

During the war, an impressive 50,000 Queen Anne watches were sold to the troops. As many soldiers began adorning West End, it rapidly earned widespread acclaim and emerged as a highly coveted brand in several parts of the Middle East.

In the late 19th century, a young Swiss named Mr. Constant Droz embarked on a remarkable journey by founding The West End Watch Co. in Bombay, India. Surprisingly, his family had their own watch company situated in the picturesque city of St-Imler, Switzerland.

By opening a sales office in Bombay, the Droz family successfully expanded their market reach to the extensive British Empire of India. Their latest innovation was the groundbreaking L'lmpemeable, a waterproof watch specifically engineered to withstand the tropical climate of India.

In just 2 decades, West End rose to become the foremost Swiss watch brand in India. It provided its products to major Railway companies, the Civil Services, and the Army units.

Throughout its long and illustrious history, West End Watch has consistently captivated the hearts and minds of all those involved in its design, manufacturing, and marketing. This enduring passion undoubtedly influences anyone who has the pleasure of wearing one of these historically rich timepieces.
