Our History
This historic partnership began in 1938 when West End Watch Co. connected with Mr. Yacob Yousef Behbehani, who acquired an initial batch of West End Watches.
Business transactions were interrupted by the Second World War, but resumed in 1946. Mr. Yacob Yousuf then obtained the official representation for the brand in the State of Kuwait. Over time, this representation expanded to include the entire Middle-East.
Upon entering the oil era and under the exceptional leadership of Mr. Yacob Yousuf Behbehani, sales quickly began to thrive, culminating to a million watches a year in the late 1970s. The West End Watch Co.'s production center in Switzerland employed over 500 technicians. Subsequently, there were challenging years due to conflicts and wars in the Middle-East, as well as significant advancements in technology (like the introduction of quartz watches).
Despite intense competition in the watchmaking industry, the West End Watch Co. stands out by maintaining a successful business for over 130 years. We take great pride in safeguarding the distinct heritage and essence of an independent brand in a world dominated by multinational corporations.
In 2004, Mr. Yacob Yousef Behbehani's passing marked a significant moment in the history of the West End brand and the relationship between Kuwait and Switzerland. The distribution legacy of West End watches in Kuwait was passed down to Mr. Aqeel Yacob Yousef Behbehani, son of Mr. Yacob, in 2005.
